"The rebellion against excessive taxation was fueled by more than just whiskey; it was a fight for freedom." -- That is how the western PA rebels saw it during the early 1790's when aiming to leverage their winter grains as a store of value in the form of whiskey without being encumbered with additional taxation on these harvests by the newly formed "Federal" government in Washington DC, led by that scallywag of a Treasury Secretary, Alexander Hamilton.
We celebrate those free men, those rebels with a cause, by toasting the very type of whiskey they so proudly distilled to trade and build a foundation of wealth for their families to make it through the hard life of a new nation in what we now call colonial or post-revolutionary times.
" May the taste of rebellion always be present in your glass of whiskey. "
